A Few Recommendations for Your Free Time
We pride ourselves on our full and enriching schedule of theatre and panel discussions led by Matt Wolf, while leaving plenty of free time to explore the 2000 year history and culture of London however you would like.
Here’s just a few of our local favorite ways to spend a free afternoon*:
Shopping & Dining
Fortnum & Mason at 181 Piccadilly
A mile from the hotel, The Queen’s Grocer is a not-to-be missed experience to enjoy exquisite teas, biscuits, and afternoon tea service.
A third of a mile away from our home base lies a one-of-a-kind shopping and dining destination filled with unique boutiques you aren’t likely to find anywhere else.
Museums
A must-see for any student of World War II history, this museum is a little over a mile away from the hotel. Conveniently located next to Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, it is a great addition to any day spent exploring the city.
The British Museum just across the street from our hotel with two million years of history from around the world. Pop in for an hour or for an afternoon - there is truly something for everyone.
Attractions
Nearly 2 miles away, across the River Thames, is the London Eye. This popular tourist attraction is a great way to see the city from above.
A little over a mile and a half from the hotel you will find the Queen’s official London residence and working royal palace. Blocks away from Buckingham, you’ll find other iconic stops like Big Ben and Westminster Abbey.
Full Day Trips
Roughly 3 hours away by train out of the city, you will find the home of Shakespeare. A great day-trip for fans of the bard.
For the adventurous traveler, a roughly 2 and half hour Eurostar train will take you to the city of lovers and capital of France.
Prefer to live in the moment? We’re on the trip with you, so let’s grab a coffee at breakfast and we’ll help you strategize the best way to enjoy your day and make it back for our programming.
